PHMC Dare To Learn

The Story of PHMC Dare To Learn (D2L)

At PHMC Dare To Learn (D2L), we embarked on a journey to empower the students of Pei Hwa Secondary School with valuable skills that extend beyond the virtual realm of Minecraft. By blending soft skills training with practical Minecraft knowledge, we sought to provide a holistic learning experience for our participants.

The Executive Committee members at PHMC Dare To Learn (D2L) were entrusted with the crucial responsibility of creating engaging and informative presentation slides for each session. Drawing on their creativity and organizational skills, the committee diligently crafted visuals that complemented the lesson content and enhanced the learning experience for their peers. To elevate the quality of these presentations, our dedicated instructor at The Infinitive Tech stepped in to refine the slides further, ensuring they were polished and effectively communicated key concepts. With expertise in instructional design and visual communication, our instructor meticulously reviewed each slide, providing valuable feedback to enhance clarity, coherence, and overall impact. This collaborative effort between the Executive Committee members and our seasoned instructor culminated in well-crafted presentations ready to captivate and educate the members of Pei Hwa Minecraft during each session.

One of the key components of our program was introducing students to the “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”, a renowned framework for personal and interpersonal effectiveness developed by Stephen Covey. Through interactive sessions and hands-on activities, students were able to grasp essential principles such as proactivity, prioritization, and synergy. These habits served as pillars upon which the students could build their personal development journey both in-game and in real life.

In parallel, we also delved into teaching basic Minecraft skills such as Redstone engineering. Redstone is akin to electrical circuitry within Minecraft, allowing players to create complex mechanisms and automated systems within the game world. By mastering Redstone techniques, students not only honed their problem-solving abilities but also gained an understanding of logic, creativity, and critical thinking – all transferable skills that are highly relevant in today’s digital age.

The integration of soft skills training with technical Minecraft know-how created a unique synergy that encouraged students to apply their learnings beyond the confines of the classroom. Quizzes and assignments were strategically incorporated into the program to assess student progress and reinforce key concepts learned throughout each session. These assessments not only gauged academic performance but also encouraged self-reflection and continuous improvement among participants.

Through PHMC Dare To Learn (D2L), we aimed not only to equip students with practical skills but also foster a growth mindset that empowers them to navigate challenges confidently both within Minecraft and in their future endeavors. Our commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel academically while embodying core values remains at the heart of our mission.
